POTD - 7/30/07
I was in Wisconsin visiting my mom and step-dad over the weekend and the sunset was just gorgeous. There was a man in a canoe (I have a picture with him in it too) and the setting looked just like a painting so I had to capture it. I ran Shay's Rich Color landscape on the original photo to enhance the colors a bit.

Yay, I'm back!! Did you miss me?
If you are ever in Cleveland, you have to go to Lake View Cemetery. It opened in 1869 and there are some amazing statues. There's also a president buried there (Garfield maybe? I can't remember which one right now) and various other famous people. The following picture is a close up of this huge angel standing over a family plot. I ran a midnight black action on it. I'd appreciate any feedback you might have.

POTD - 4/9/07
This weeks topic is supposed to be the sun. Sunrise, sunset, etc. Well, seeing how I live in Ohio and the sun doesn't seem to like Ohio, this is a tough one for me. This photo is of my lonely front porch swing. I always wanted a porch swing and now that I finally have one, I can't really use it b/c it's either too cold or too rainy. Stupid Ohio.

This little mouse caught my eye every time I was in Cowtown Art (now out of business). I don't know what about it I liked so much. As much as I liked it, I didn't want to spend the money on something that would just sit on a shelf so D bought it for my birthday in 2005. My little mouse now sit onto of our entertainment center and he actually found another purpose in life besides being a knickknack. D stores his laptop next to the mouse and his tail helps hold the various cords for it when they're not in use. I guess he was a wise investment after all.
Please excuse the white dog fur that found its way into the picture. I didn't notice it until I was editing and I didn't feel like going to taking more pictures.

Ohio must be the strangest state in the world. Monday, the weather was beautiful: temps close to 80 degrees, sunshine. Perfect. Fastforward 2 days to snow. Snow!! In April! I guess it's not all that unusual but it sucks. All the daffodils have died. :( Here are some pictures of our April snow, our pear (I think) tree blooming and our Samoyed/Husky mix (the only one happy it's cold again).

POTD - 3/16/07 : (
We have to put our cat Hobbes to sleep today. Her kidney's have been failing for the past couple of years but she's gone really downhill the past 2 weeks. I took her to the vet on Tuesday and he found tumors in her intestines. She's 15 years old so even if they did surgery and could get all the tumors, it wouldn't extend her life by much. It would be way too hard on her anyway. Its hard but I think we're doing the best thing for her.
We're really going to miss Hobbes. D has raised her since she was 3 months old and she's been in my life for the past 3. I feel like she's just as much my cat as his now. Hobbes is the one cat that always sleep with us and she always cuddled with us when we watched tv. It's going to be hard to let such a good cat go.

I've been hibernating since its been so cold here lately. I've been living under blankets for the past couple of weeks. I crawled out briefly to share one of my favorite pictures of all time: my grandparents at a lake some time around 1940. My grandfather passed away in 1996 and my grandmother just passed away this past October. I guess this picture is what I how I want to imagine them now that they're back together again, keeping watch over my family and I.
